by Beulah Vega
It starts
at the end
The last kiss remembrance
of the untorn tapestry spun
with our lives
The apathy filling the spot
where longing used
to live
The soft brush of rough hands
freezing on skin, fire
used to warm.
The last glance
as something greater than the sum
of us dissolves…
It starts at the realization
that I no longer crave
your name
It starts with releasing
the dreams shared
in hope
It starts with a suffocating rain
of tears, a radiating pain
of grief.
but at least
It starts.
