Sorry About the Ghosts

Sorry About the Ghosts

By Arsh Siddiqui

Sorry about the ghosts.
I told them to stick to the closet
or the kitchen,
but they don’t really listen.

You’d think they wouldn’t be a concern.
They are almost transparent –
translucent I think it’s called –
but they do tend to get in the way.
Especially with things like this.

It might be a little bit strange,
we just met and
you’re back at my place
and you’re seeing all these ghosts.

You seem a little concerned,
but don’t be!
They’re friendly you see
and you can just ignore the concerning ones.

The one you’re looking at?
It’s holding an index card with “possessive”
written on it?
Yeah you can ignore that.

There’s one holding a jar of industrial waste,
with a toxic waste symbol on it?
And the ghost is aggressively gesturing at me?
Just forget about that one.

Hmm? You can see another one that just
lit a blue flame?
Like a gas flame?
I think that’s a you problem.

I know this may seem concerning.
You’ve probably never gone back with anyone
into a house filled with ghosts,
but its really not that bad,
I think you should just ignore it.
All the others did.
