LE Francis

I started writing this column a couple years ago for Cream Scene Carnival, it was a very occasional feature, but for a minute I was somewhat in the know when it came to astrological happenings. & in this long off season, I’ve been wandering around asking what the hell is in the microwave when I have a bad moment. Usually it’s my brain, but occasionally there is some cosmic fuckery to hang part of the blame on.

& sure, I’d put money on me forgetting everything I’ve learned in this feverish research/writing session maybe thirty minutes after I hit “publish.” But as I write this, my general feeling regarding the month of March is that I agreed to too many social engagements when I was feeling less hateful. & maybe that is coming from the depth of my luteal phase more than the give-&-take general theme of this month’s transits, but I’m a poet & I can find a way to blame it on whatever I want to.

Anyway, I write this column by rising sign so if you don’t know yours, you could figure it out or just wing it & claim whatever feels right.

Aries

Your sense of self may become inconsistent this month, but inconsistency is not necessarily instability or incongruity. If each day this month was a sentence, you would probably compose a beautiful prose poem, or maybe a stream of curses. Either way, laid bare there will be an unmistakable common thread. Edit the lines, weave the ends in, life is always what you make it but there’s always opportunity to make it more.

Taurus

There is a lot going on out there & that’s distracting, alienating. But luckily, we exist under the crumbling end stage of capitalism dependent on the cogs of our rugged individuality, so complete dissociation to the point of ego death is unlikely. But you may, in fact, get a little wrapped up in hermit energy toward the end of the month. If the whiplash pace of the shift troubles you, let it go. The light may scatter but it emanates from the same source.

Gemini

Ya know that feeling that you’re about to flash into a sort of hypercriticality incident? This month you can blame it maybe 50% on the cool indifference of the universe/being born under a bad sign or something. The other 50% of that, it’s nervous system dysregulation, baby. The good news is Gemini energy is almost fool proof during crash outs because we weren’t that interested anyway & nothing is that serious. Put on your clown shoes & get to stepping.

Cancer

Softness & self-reflection are languages & your fluency is tested when you encounter a new truth. Knowing something to be true is just the broken edge of knowledge. Next comes challenging it, challenging yourself, breaking it down, integrating it. Wisdom is the deep breath at the end of a long conversation. We are never half as wise as we should be.

Leo

“It’s just the way I am” is a red flag, friend. Sure, the work to be done is hard & we’ve all been tested lately, but an unexamined life is boring. & if nothing else working through the difficult stuff will engage the little voice in your head that tends to read you to filth, distract it. Anyway, without challenging your own uncharitable calls, there’s no way to truly know if you are the drama you have endeavored to become.

Virgo

Dropping off of the face of the planet when you feel out of sorts is one way to avoid being considered a killjoy, but it’s also a very easy way to be misunderstood and misconstrued. The intensity of joy & pain are light & shadows that carve the face of your soul, let someone glimpse it, even if just for a moment.

Libra

Stop doing the same thing & expecting different results under the guise of “grinding.” Not knowing what to do is humbling but it’s also an ignition point. When you return to the brainstorming phase of any project, routine, or relationship you’re honing your nose for opportunity, training your brain to seek out & expect something different. Productivity mode may be a good distraction, but when your work has nowhere to go, it’s not exactly productive.

Scorpio

If the creation of the individual is a divine act, the individual act of creation is divinity. There are threads the color of skies & the inside of hearts. The individual creation is made of these, hues that weave through humanity, through the natural world, & all in between. See your threads in creation & creation’s threads in you. Everything you write has you & I & everything within it.

Sagittarius

Sometimes home is a place, other times it’s a practice, others still an idea. So, where does inspiration live & how do you approach it? Do you kick off your shoes & sit down for a talk or do you watch with wide eyes as if you were trying to take in the shape & breadth of a god? There’s a dance between curiosity & seriousness & it takes a minute to get in-step. But once you do, nobody will remember when you stumbled.

Capricorn

You’ll feel the best chasing love & ideas this month but the work is not just external. Make sure to consider how the feeling that rushes in when you come home & shut the door & greet the silence. There is often a sadness that leaks into the moments proceeding joy & maybe you feel as if anytime you are happy a fall is waiting for you. But it’s not. In between the great moments & the quiet you may find a new feeling. Acquaint yourself.

Aquarius

There’s a value to the things you are able to put to voice this month, especially when you can ground them back into quiet. The world is loud & silence is rare. Draw it through you & offer it up as a gift. Words that evoke calm will be a balm, package it in language, in verse, in song. The notes you don’t play are as important as those you do.

Pisces

It’s easy to love the reflection of yourself glimpsed through the eyes of another, a lover – hell, even a hater. But you are neither flawless nor fearsome & there is much to love in that. While an ardent or agitated opinion can give you an estimation of your shape & texture, the clearest image is likely to be drawn from how you are loving the world around you.
