Sarah, from down the road

Sarah, from down the road

By Jessica Gleason

She twirled in the mirror,
hair stringy and hay-colored,
admiring her new twenty-dollar
sundress.

It was the nicest thing she
owned, and unabashed pride
radiated from her in waves
of pure pleasure.

This dress. This would
be the beginning of
everything.
